I have nothing negative to say about 'R Place. The food is fantastic (best wings around), the drinks are cold and refilled quickly and there are plenty of TVs with any game on you could wish for. Whether you're grabbing lunch, catching up with friends for dinner/drinks or looking to catch a game, I highly recommend checking this place out.

Great local pub to grab lunch. Was in town and wanted local pub food. Very friendly service.

R Place is a perfect example of why I prefer the dive bar. The crowd here is always innocuous. No pretension or douche baggery. Everybody here gets along and just wants to unwind and have a good time. Nothing fancy. The beer selection is even below my standards, but it's okay. Drinking here for a couple hours with a friend makes me happy, and lets me forget about this sick, deranged world we live in. The first time I came here, I passed it up. It's that small. But once you walk inside, it's reminiscent of a cozy, warm blanket. But with more drunk people. This place features more dive than Michael Phelps, but it's all good. Sometimes, that's all we need.

I recently discovered this neighborhood bar and I'm actually very happy I did. I had been looking for a place to call "home" lately since I have been friendless and dateless for the last few months. Boohoo! =( It's not really because I'm hated by everyone, but mostly because my 2 BFFs just had babies, and because I seem to have no luck with the opposite sex. So while wallowing in my pity, I started coming here solo. Let me tell you, it is one of the friendliest bars I have been to in a long time. It is so easy to start up a conversation with the fellow patrons and the music has always been drinking friendly. They play XM radio and there is also a jukebox. I really like the outdoor patio in the back. That is where you can find the smokers. I noticed they have a bar in the patio too but I think it is mostly used during the summer months. This place is a gotta try.

I took my son there last night around 7 pm. (It was a Sunday). We were in the mood for some pub grub and a couple beers. I was excited to try the food after reading the reviews on here. Sad to find out that because it was slow, they sent the cook home. The bartender was very nice and apologetic. I might go back when a game is on and try again

I absolutely love going there they have great food and nice bartenders... R-Place is fabulous place to have birthday parties or even fundraising events.

When you first drive by this place it doesn't look like more than a ordinary sports bar HOWEVER it will surprise you! When I first went to R place it was for a friends birthday the plan was just to have a few drinks and call it a night but decided to order food as well. When the food arrived we were amazed with everything. They have the best wings, cheese fries, Nachos and Pizza. My entire circle of friends and I go here very often in fact its our usual Thursday hang out. We cant get enough of the wings!! the bartenders are very friend SPECIALLY Peggy!! Definitely recommend going. Try the wings (Hot) with cheese fries... Mmmmm ok I'm hungry now.

Had the time of my life! If your looking for place for a private celebration you will find it here! I celebrated my surprise 50th birthday party here! If I had to have planned it I wouldn't of changed anything! The place was exactly what I wanted! Clean good food & best friendly staff I encountered! Thank you so much Helen Patty and Nicki! Oh yes & Tony the cook! .....still hearing about how everyone loved the place & how much fun it was! Thank thanks thanks! Sonia & Tom

I enjoy this place as the people are always friendly. However, I think the wraps have gone down in size even though the prices haven't changed. Smaller size, less cost right? Staff is always very nice.

This really is our place. It's a friendly neighborhood tavern with great food! I love the fajita wraps and the pizza. They have reasonable prices and it looks more divey from the outside, it's actually nice and clean inside

as everybody knows, what makes a bar great is the staff. this is the home base if you live in berwyn because the staff are great. yes the food is okay (just bar food but decently done and homemade which is a plus) and the beer selection is more working class than beer snob. but it's a friendly place to go and watch the game and eat dinner. and that means a lot.

An average bar in an average street. The decor of the inside is nice though the place is a bit small. An outdoor patio makes it seem bigger than it is. No other place nearby for patrons to bar hop compared to other forest park bars on Madison.

This is a great local place. I hang out here fairly often with co-workers. It's a nice cross between nicer bar and dive bar. The front half is where the local guys and dart players hang out,the back half and patio are for the rest. The outdoor patio is the best place to relax after a long day at work. The drinks are reasonably priced and the food isn't bad either. I'm a fan!

I started coming here a couple months ago. It's great to watch any baseball, hockey or football game at since everywhere you look there is a television set including an extremely large one. They also have a ton of seating and even what appears to be an enclosed back area for the smokers. They have pretty decent specials: Monday: Miller Pints $1.50/Pitchers $5 Tuesday: Import Bottles $3/Bombs $5 Wednesday: Domestic Bottles $2/$1 off all Mixed Drinks Thursday: 23 oz. Blue Moon $3.50/Malt Beverages $2.50 Friday: Martinis $6/Pina Colada $5 Saturday: Miller Pints $1.50/Margarita or Strawberry Daiquiri $5 Sunday: $5 Miller Pitchers w/ any Pizza order/Call Bloody Marys $4.50 Also the pizza is reasonable priced and very tasty! We always get the Italian beef and garlic, so good! I also heard their chili is great but have never tried it myself since I am not a fan of the beans. Great place to hang out with friends! Will frequent many times to come!

This place is the best around. Not just a great bar with tons of tv's to watch everything you would want but their menu is top notch! Their pizza is fantastic! Great Mexican choices. The Mexican pizza sounds simple but is delicious! The people there are friendly and unlike many other area pubs, there isn't a "clicky" feel about it. I've met a lot of people because everyone is so relaxed and nice. R'Place is a must. Great for lunch too!

Really friendly and relaxed atmosphere. Different drink and food specials every day = awesome!

This is a small diveish bar, with a bowling game maching that entertained the men for a while. (Thank you!!) Daily specials of beer, but we got a pitcher. It was quiet (1:30 on Saturday), they very nicely kicked us out at 3. What else can you say? Bar, pub tables, bowling machine, beer. I guess they have munchies if you're hungry. Oh -- the music here was way too loud, too. What's with places nowadays? Am I getting old, or is every place cranking up their stereos?
(4)Marete S.
My husband and I stopped into R' Place on our way home one evening for a quick drink and were rather surprised. There is plenty of bar space and tables to sit. It is never super packed so the service is usually pretty quick. But what surprised us was the food. We ordered the nachos and they were awesome. You can tell that the chips are home made.

only been here once so far, but i can tell it's going to be a regular bar for us in our new home of oak park, only downside is that i wish it was walking distance... Laid back, decent bar food, good beer specials, all work well for me and the bf who loves to find a little whole in the wall to settle down. I believe they have a patio in back, but when we went it was too cold, so hopefully we can get in on some of that this summer!

I love this place!! This is our regular Friday lunch hangout and I get the buffalo shrimp po boy sandwich every time! Niki is the usual Friday bartender and remembers us and our orders each week! Cheers to Niki! It has typical bar food, but tastes better than most bar food I've had. The only negative is that there is usually only one cook and one bartender so food/ service can be very slow if they are busy. Just grab a beer and chat it up. The buffalo shrimp po boy is worth every second of wait time. And for those of you who don't mind a little TMI, it's as spicy coming out as it is going in..........and yet I still can't get enough! ha!

I love that this place is off the beaten path. Just good, unpretentious drinking going on here. And you can check out the game, play pool, and eat decent bar food. What else could you ask for?

Nice little neighborhood bar on Harlem just before 16th. Great bar food during the afternoons. Darts and bowling machine. nice drink specials at night. music isn't too loud most of the time. lots of softball players hanging out on Sundays.
